The official journal of the American Academy of Neurology "Annals of Neurology" published the results of the EPISTOP study, in which 16 centers from Europe, the USA and Australia participated (10 clinical centers, 5 laboratories and one administrative center). The study was coordinated by Prof. Sergiusz Jóźwiak, Head of the Department of Child Neurology of the UCC MUW.

On December 16th, the District Medical Council together with the Commission for Dental Doctors awarded Prof. Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk, acting as the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the MUW, the head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of the FDM MUW, the national consultant for pediatric dentistry, the president of the Polish Pediatric Dentistry Association, with the St. Apollonia Award.

Aleksandra Gąsecka-van der Pol, MD, PhD, and Łukasz Kołtowski, MD, PhD, have been awarded this year's AISN PTK 2020 grant in cooperation with Abbott Medical.

Medical University of Warsaw as one of the two Polish universities (alongside Warsaw School of Economics), was offered a partnership in Value Based Healthcare Dragon's Grant & Endorsement international project. His Magnificence Rector Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong was invited to the esteemed jury of the Polish edition.

Research and development works within the project implementation "Synthesis of API, development of formulation and in vivo studies of a cream containing human gut microbiota postbiotic metabolite – U228 for topical treatment of atopic dermatitis” will be conducted by Jakub Piwowarski, PharmD, PhD from the Department of Pharmacognosy and Molecular Basis of Phytotherapy in cooperation with Barbara Żyżyńska-Granica, MD PhD from the Chair and Department of Biochemistry. The research will be conducted in an environmental Microbiota Lab established within the structures of the Center for Preclinical Research and the Department of Pharmacognosy and Molecular Basis of Phytotherapy at the MUW.

Professor Krzysztof Zieniewicz and Professor Marcin Grabowski, together with their teams, were among those awarded in the prestigious "Golden Scalpel 2020" Plebiscite - organized by the "Pulse of Medicine". The competition promotes those who increase the quality and innovation of medical care in Poland. The excellent jury awarded 10 projects out of several dozen applications.

Within the second round of the competition for research and development activities in the field of non-commercial clinical trials, scientists from our University received funding of PLN 8 million 676 thousand from the Medical Research Agency.

On 07.12.2020, the Medical Research Agency awarded a grant of PLN 100 million, which will enable the development of ultra-modern oncological therapy in Poland.

On 2 December this year, in the Second Department of Radiology of UCC MUW, a pioneering computer tomography-guided procedure of percutaneous cryoablation of a renal tumor was performed.
