WUM submitted five patents and ranks sixth among Polish applicants in the European Patent Office (EPO) annual report 2017 published on March 7th.
The Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics Clinic conducted its first subcutaneous cardioverter defibrillator implantation EMBLEM MRI S-ICD SYSTEM. It was the Clinic’s first EMBLEM MRI S-ICD SYSTEM procedure and one of the first in Poland to be performed on a patient under the age of eighteen.
On 4th of March Medical University of Warsaw took part in canadian educational fairs "Study and Go Abroad" at Toronto Convention Centre.
The Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś and the Director of the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine in Warsaw, Prof. Ewa Lech-Marańda, MD, PhD, signed, in the presence of Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Katarzyna Głowali, a letter of intent.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the MUW University Counseling Services. As of March 1st, all students of the Medical University of Warsaw - Polish and international students – are invited to use the UCS services. The MUW University Counseling Services will offer individual therapy, psychological counseling, coaching, training in biofeedback techniques and sexology consultations by a team of eight specialists (psychologists and sexologists).
Associate Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, from the Department of Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation of the II Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw was appointed to the Hearing Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). It is the world's largest organization representing specialists who treat the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.
On February 6th, 2018, a co-financing agreement for the Center for Preclinical Research and Technology - CePT II consortium was signed between the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, His Magnificence, prof. Mirosław Wielgoś and representatives of Mazovia regional authorities: Ms. Janina Ewa Orzełowska, Deputy Marshal of the Mazovia Voivodship and Ms. Lanc, Member of the Masovia Voivodship Board. Accompanying the Rector at the signing ceremony was Deputy Rector for Science and Technology Transfer, Prof. Jadwiga Turło.
The INTERSTUDENT competition recognizes leaders amongst international students studying in Poland. This year Justyna Pordzik who is in her sixth year of studies at the English Division II Faculty of Medicine received an award for her achievements in research. The 8th INTERSTUDENT Gala took place on January 29th in Gliwice during the annual International Students in Poland Conference organized by CRASP and Perspektywy Education Foundation. Prof. Bożena Werner, Dean of the English Division who nominated Justyna for the award, joined Justyna on stage to congratulate her student.
At the initiative of dr Shahar Geva , director of the Tel-Aviv Medical College Overseas Medical Education with locations in Berlin and Tel-Aviv, a group of 11 students currently enrolled in the College’s premed course came to Warsaw to visit the Medical University of Warsaw. The purpose of the visit was to give students from Germany, Israel and Norway, who are preparing to write medical school entrance exams, an opportunity to learn about the possibility of studying medicine, dentistry or pharmacy in English at the Medical University of Warsaw.
