On May 16, the Department and Clinic of General, Vascular and Transplant Surgery of the Medical University of Warsaw performed its eighth stent-graft implantation to the aortic arch. The surgery was conducted under the expert supervision of Prof. Stephan Haulon, a world-famous leader in aortic endoluminal therapy; Head of the leading aortic treatment center in Paris; and, Deputy President-elect of the European Society for Vascular Surgery.
On May 15, 2018, Prof. Fausto Pinto, a leading cardiologist in Europe, visited the Medical University of Warsaw on the occasion of a Scientific Conference organized by the 1st Faculty of Medicine.
The signing of the Construction Act for the Medical University of Warsaw Center of Dentistry took place on May 14, 2018 at the location of the new building on the Banacha campus, ul. Żwirki i Wigury 81 - between the University’s Library and Information Center and the Center for Preclinical Research.
2nd Faculty of Medicine Dean, Prof. Marek Kuch hosted Prof. Jeffrey Michel, Vice Dean for International Education of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine (COM) on the occasion of the 14th Warsaw International Medical Conference (WIMC).
This year’s Graduation Ball was held at the picturesque Krasnodwór Restaurant in Warsaw. The special event was an occasion to celebrate the approaching end of medical studies of students enrolled in the II Faculty of Medicine English Division. One hundred and thirty guests walked the red carpet at the Graduation Ball.
English Dentistry Division students Dominique Gnatowski and Steven Hamati placed third in the best student paper competition dentistry category of the 26th International Medical Students' Conference (IMSC) 2018 which took place on April 19-21 in Krakow.
On April 13, 2018, the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a direct loan agreement to provide financing for the development of a state-of-the-art medical simulation center on MUW’s main campus.
On April 12, 2018, MUW authorities and faculty met with Dr. Dror Paley, MD, FRCSC, a world-renowned expert in limb lengthening and reconstruction, and founder and director of the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Dr. David Feldman, director of the Spine Deformity Center and Hip Pain Center at the Paley Institute.

The MICRA pacemaker was implanted in a 15-year-old patient with recurrent loss of consciousness and sinus arrest. This was the Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics Clinic of the Public Medical University of Warsaw Pediatric Teaching Hospital’s first MICRA implantation as well as the first implantation of this type in a pediatric patient in Warsaw and fifth in Poland.
