Focus on MUW - 2021
Pulmonology doctors and radiologists from all over the country met at a medical course: “From fibrosis to fibrosis - interstitial lung diseases by cases”. It was the first such activity at the Medical University of Warsaw organised in cooperation with the Centre for Medical Simulation and Innovation of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Department of Internal Medicine, Pneumonology and Allergology.
On 21 September, the Polish Society of Gynaecological Oncology elected a new Board of Directors for 2021-2025. Prof. Włodzimierz Sawicki, Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Women’s Diseases and Gynaecology Oncology at the University of Medical Sciences, has been elected president.
The MINIATURE 5 competition results were announced. Three projects led by our researchers are among the group of projects that will receive financial support.
The paper by Prof. Magdalena Kucia and Prof. Mariusz Ratajczak from the Department of Regenerative Medicine MUW on the impact of SARC-CoV-2 virus on bone marrow stem cell division and the so-called "cytokine storm" was on the list of the most cited, downloaded and shared articles published in 2020 in the prestigious scientific journal "Leukemia" (Impact Factor 11,528). Our researchers’ article has already been cited 85 times. This is the first report in the world to confirm the so-called long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and hematopoietic stem cell damage.
On September 16, the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2022 were announced in four areas: clinical and health, life sciences, physical sciences as well as psychology. Our University was among 925 universities ranked in the clinical and health field, maintaining its last year's 601+ position.
Since last year, the first holistic program to educate future physicians in medical nutrition has been successfully conducted at the Medical University of Warsaw.
During the last session of the Medical - Dental Final Examination, dentists who graduated from our University more than two years ago ranked second among the graduates of all medical universities achieving an average of 154,79 points.
"Stem Cell Reviews and Reports" (IF 5.739) - a periodical whose editor-in-chief is Prof. Mariusz Ratajczak from the Department of Regenerative Medicine MUW - was included in the "Top 10% of Springer Nature journals".
Aleksandra Karolina Kruk, PhD. Eng., from the Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the beneficiaries of the fifth edition of the SONATINA competition, which is addressed to young scientists who received their doctoral degrees within the last three years. Competitive grants awarded by the National Science Center enable to finance the research projects and internships in prestigious foreign centers.
The first modern compendium on laboratory diagnostics in Poland was created thanks to the experience of our University's specialists.
