Focus on MUW - 2024
The agreement continuing the strategic partnership between the institutions was signed by Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer, on the part of MUW, and Justin Gandy, Managing Director, on the part of MSD Poland. The goal of the cooperation is to improve the quality of healthcare in the long term based on data from actual clinical practice.
The winner is Adrian Nowakowski, an undergraduate student in nursing at MUW, a nurse in the Department of Neurology at the Central Clinical Hospital UCC MUW, he is also studying computer science and doing a specialization in nursing. His idea "Stefania" uses artificial intelligence and Large Language Models to teach effective communication with patients, especially those suffering from dementia.
Prof. Dagmara Mirowska-Guzel, Head of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology MUW, was elected president of the Society. In addition, Prof. Aneta Nitsch-Osuch, Head of the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health MUW, was elected President of the Faculty V of Medical Sciences, while Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion MUW and Head of the Department of Research Methodology MUW, was elected Secretary of the Faculty.
The speaker was Ewa Czochrowska, MD, PhD, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, who presented to students from Warsaw high schools included in the MUW Patronage Program the possibilities of modern orthodontics and discussed the use of three-dimensional (3D) imaging in the treatment of malocclusion.
WUM_PW INTEGRA is a competition for joint research projects between Warsaw University of Technology and Medical University of Warsaw in the fields of medicine, biomedical engineering and biotechnology, innovative technologies for medicine and medical diagnostics or related issues. In the first edition of the competition, eight projects were qualified for funding.
