The capping ceremony of midwifery graduates
"Your profession is among the most beautiful professions in the world" – said the Rector of MUW Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong to 113 graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery during the traditional capping ceremony. The meeting, held on July 15, 2021, was hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD.

On July 14, 2021, in the Auditorium of the Didactic Center, a ceremony of capping the graduates of the bachelor's degree in nursing was held. The ceremony was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD, and attended by the Rector of the MUW, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong.
Scholarships baner
On June 23 this year, Minister of Education and Science Przemyslaw Czarnek awarded scholarships to the outstanding young scientists. Our researchers made up the third largest group of laureates out of 217 awarded.

On June 22nd, Prof. Marek Krawczyk received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The former Rector of our University from 2008 to 2016 has thus joined the esteemed faculty of prominent figures from the world of science, art and politics appreciated by the oldest university in Poland. The ceremony, which took place in the Hall of Collegium Novum, was presided over by the Rector of Jagiellonian University, Prof. Jacek Popiel.
International Donor Surgery & Organ Preservation Masterclass
On June 9-11, for the first time in Central and Eastern Europe, was held a unique masterclass on procurement and preservation of abdominal organs from deceased donors - International Donor Surgery and Organ Preservation Masterclass. The training that was organized by the Department of General and Transplant Surgery, UCC MUW, included theoretical part and practical exercises. The masterclass was attended by 22 doctors from Poland, Sweden, Lithuania and Bulgaria.

Six projects by MUW and UW scientists will receive funding in the 2nd edition of the competition carried out under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" program, action VI.1: "Strengthening and development of cooperation between the University of Warsaw and the Medical University of Warsaw in the federalization process." The support, granted to joint research teams, is aimed at increasing the impact of research results on global science and gaining experience concerning forms of cooperation between both universities.
Percutaneous embolectomy saves lives of patients with COVID
Acute pulmonary embolism is the third leading cause of cardiovascular mortality. One of the strong risk factor for this disease is SARS-CoV-2 infection. Most patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and concomitant acute pulmonary embolism can be successfully treated conservatively (with heparins), but approximately 5% require aggressive treatment with advanced percutaneous techniques. Failure to perform such treatment in this group of patients increases mortality to 30%.
The visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq at MUW
The Ambassador of Iraq, Mr. Asaad Sultan Hachem Abogulal paid a visit to our University yesterday. The purpose of the visit was to initiate the cooperation between the Medical University of Warsaw and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Iraq, which would involve the establishment of research teams consisting of Polish and Iraqi scientists.
