Prof. Zdzislaw Askanas, is a well-known cardiologist, professor of medicine and founder of the famous Warsaw Academic School of Cardiology. The school continues to be developed today by successive generations of scientists and clinicians. It has produced many generations of outstanding cardiologists - heads of clinics and heads of cardiology departments in Warsaw. On June 4, at the MUW Didactic Center, a session dedicated to WASC was held, which brought together the professor's students and the continuators of his ideas.
Prof. Zdzisław Machoń received the honoris causa doctorate of the Medical University of Warsaw in the presence of the representatives of our University and the Wroclaw Medical University, his friends and family. The title was conferred to confirm and recognize the importance of his services to Polish science and to the Medical University of Warsaw. Exceptionally, the ceremony took place within the walls of Wrocław University, which is Professor Machoń's Alma Mater.
A nationwide "Healthy Life" program has been launched to raise Poles' awareness of health issues. It was initiated by the President of Poland and was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the National Health Fund, the Ministry of State Assets and the General Insurance Company. The content of the campaign is supported by an expert advisory board of medical and health systems professionals. Rector Zbigniew Gaciong participated in its inauguration.
A teleconference was held today at the Medical University of Warsaw with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, Mrs. Iryna Mykychak, Principal of the Medical University of Warsaw Zbigniew Gaciong and the principals of 17 Ukrainian medical universities. The topic of discussion was the cooperation between the Medical University of Warsaw and Ukrainian medical universities in the field of assistance in the education and training of medical staff and students was discussed. It is planned to create a program of long-term cooperation in this area.
They may look like cuddly toys, but in fact they are medical devices proven to assist in treating problems like post-traumatic stress. Representatives of the CM WUM University Psychological Clinic and the Study of Health Psychology of the Medical University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the creator of PARO and his team, are currently developing an optimal strategy for using these devices. They were given to us by the Japanese Embassy in support and assistance to Ukraine.
Midwives were invited by Student Scientific Circles: Ethics and Midwives – both of which are in operation at the Department of Gynecological and Obstetric Didactics – to attend joint deliberations on important environmental issues. The conference consisted of parts of lectures as well as a poster session, during which midwifery students presented their scientific papers.

The world-famous periodontist received this honorable title on Friday, May 27. The university appreciated Professor Mariano Sanz for his outstanding scientific achievements, enormous achievements and long-term cooperation with the Medical University of Warsaw, as well as a significant contribution to the development of Polish dentistry. The university authorities and invited guests participated in the ceremony of awarding the doctorate honoris causa, which took place at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. It is the 77th dhc title awarded by our university.
The Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Warsaw organized a three-day conference entitled "Interdisciplinary Conference on Drug Sciences", during which over 250 participants from different parts of the world discussed important and interesting scientific problems of modern pharmacy. The event was held under the patronage of prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw.
On May 26, the clinical hospital of the Medical University of Warsaw was officially awarded the title of “Child-Friendly Hospital”. It is awarded to those medical institutions that adhere to the world-accepted principles of successful breastfeeding. The date of granting the title was not random: it was Mother’s Day and coincided with the Breastfeeding Promotion Week organized by the hospital for the seventh time.
