- It is important to remind what Warsaw International Medical Congress is. Passion for learning, willingness to exchange ideas and take on new challenges are the main reasons why we have gathered here. As members of the Student Scientific Society, we are proud to create an international platform for discussion and cooperation for young scientists from all over the world - said Jan Borkowski, chairman of the organizing committee on Friday, May 6, during the opening ceremony of one of the largest European student congresses.
Last Saturday, May 7, MUW students intensively practiced dodging, lifting, grabbing, punching and kicking. All this in a self-defense and safety workshop. It was organized by IFMSA-Poland Warsaw Branch in order to develop self-confidence and basic defensive reflexes in students. The course was conducted by police officers from the Police Training Center in Legionowo.
Since May 2 of 2022, the position of the spokesperson for the University has been performed by Jarosław Kulczycki.
Prof. Mariusz Wąsik, immunologist, pathologist and hematopathologist from Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia will be a guest of the Warsaw International Medical Congress for Young Scientists in May. He will give two talks at the event: one on CAR-T immunotherapy and the other on tumor transformation of cells of the lymphatic system. Admission to the lectures is free, also for those not registered for the conference.
As part of the BIOTECHMED-2 research grant, a group of scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw and the Warsaw University of Technology has developed an organosilicon platform for cultivating plant-based biomass used for obtaining herbal medicinal products.
The authorities of our university met with Iryna Mykychak, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine. The situation of Ukrainian medical students was discussed, as well as academic exchange and other forms of cooperation.
A meeting of the specially appointed Steering Committee, which oversees the implementation of this largest and most important project for MUW, was held.
On April 25, the Center for World University Rankings announced the results of the World University Rankings 2022-23. The ranking evaluates, among other things, the quality of education and research achievements of the best universities from around the world. This year's list included 19,788 universities. Among them once again was MUW, taking 917th place in the general classification. This result allowed our university to once again take the leading position among Polish medical universities included in the ranking. It also ranked our university among the top 10 national universities on the list.
The adWUM application was created to encourage students to provide their opinions about the teaching activities, studying conditions and practices at the University. It can be downloaded to all Android and IOS mobile devices. The adWUM makes it easy to access the questionnaires and speed up answering them.
On April 14, in the University Center for Women’s and Newborn Health MUW - as the first center in Poland - an operation on spina bifida was performed on a 25-week-old fetus using the innovative Belfort technique. The operation lasted 7 hours. It went successfully.
