The graduation is a unique ceremony. It is a symbolic closing of an important stage in life - the time of study, and the beginning of a new stage - professional work. Associated with it are primarily positive emotions. And it was in such excellent moods that on Monday, June 19, our university bid farewell to 81 graduates of the English Division of the Faculty of Medicine. They were accompanied by their families and loved ones. And the ceremony took place in the beautiful interiors of the Royal Castle. - Remember, medicine is not only a profession, it is an art, but above all a passion. And I hope you will feel this passion - the Rector, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, said to the heroes of the ceremony.
On Friday, June 16, the Conference of Rectors of University Medical Schools (KRAUM) announced its recommendations to support planning of the teaching process at faculties of medicine. The document was prepared by a team of experts from all the universities associated in KRAUM, our university included. The recommendations focus on the following three areas: ensuring acquisition of right professional competences in the study process; teaching methodology; educational environment. There are a total of 46 and, as emphasized by KRAUM, they try to indicate how to give future health care professionals good background for working in an unforeseeable, continuously changing environment.
This is the finale of this edition of our Patronage Program. A lecture by Rector Professor Zbigniew Gaciong at King Władysław IV High School on the length of human life concluded a series of presentations that MUW experts gave in three Warsaw high schools.
What do traditional Indonesian costumes look like, what does Lebanese cuisine taste like, how do you play "7 stones"? These are just some of the interesting facts that participants of the Diversity Festival, which took place at MUW on June 2 and 3, could learn. The festival was organized by our foreign students who form the Diversity x WUM project. The goal? To show that MUW is a unique multicultural community. And it succeeded! It was inspiring, joyful and above all - inclusive.
The results of the 10th edition of the competition organized by the editors of "Puls Medycyny" were announced on June 12. The list of winners included Aleksandra Gąsecka-van der Pol, MD, PhD, from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology UCC MUW, and Karol Momot, a 6th year student of the Faculty of Medicine MUW. Who are they? They are the leaders of the young generation of physicians who, with their knowledge and great commitment, are changing and will continue to change Polish health care for the better.
For MUW, it is prestige and an opportunity to attract international grants and business partners. And for our scientists, it's a chance to pursue scientific and business careers at the same time.
The conference was held under the slogan "Here comes the new?" The experts discussed changes planned by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health in the standards of education for medical faculties, which assume practical training and contact with patients from the first two years of study, and the acquisition of broader communication skills. They also talked about what MUW's activities in these areas look like.
Prominent experts, more than 40 lectures, debate, discussions and more than a hundred participants. The National Forum on Medical Law and Ethics named after Dr. Pawel Wójcik was held at MUW on the 26th and 27th. The topic was the collision of goods and duties in medical law and medical ethics.
They worked diligently for five and a half years of study. And on Saturday, May 20, in the presence of the rector's and dean's authorities and their loved ones, they received the coveted diplomas. This is a confirmation of the education they received within the walls of our University and, as Rector Professor Zbigniew Gaciong wrote in his congratulatory letter to the graduates, "the seal of the Medical University of Warsaw," as well as "a guarantee respected throughout the world."
