Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai List, is a compilation of the top 1000 universities from around the world. This year, only nine Polish universities fit into it. Only two of them have a medical profile. MUW is placed in the 901-1000 range.
She is an expert in rhinolaryngology and works daily in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery UCC MUW. Mountains have always been her passion. On July 27, she became the fourth Polish woman in history to climb 8611 meters above sea level and summit K2.
These were two memorable and grand ceremonies! Nearly 1,000 people who graduated in dietetics, nursing, midwifery, emergency medicine and public health in the 2022/2023 academic year received their diplomas. The authorities of the faculty and the university bid them farewell with pride, joy and emotion. Now our graduates, equipped with knowledge and skills at the highest level, can confidently begin the next stage of their lives.
On July 17, in the evening hours, large vehicles of the City Cleaning Plant appeared in front of the Sports and Rehabilitation Center (CSR WUM). They came to pick up a precious cargo – water from the pool! This is because every year the water needs to be replaced. "Old" water, on the other hand, receives a second life. This year it was used by the city to wash streets and streetcar tracks in Wola, Mokotów and Wilanów. This is the third action to collect water from the pool from the CSR WUM swimming pool and reuse it by the City Cleaning Board.
Only today you can still enroll for uniform Master's studies and Bachelor's studies at our university. Enrollment takes place through the Internet Registration of Candidates (IRK system).
On Friday, June 30, at the Mazovian Provincial Office in Warsaw, Prof. Wojciech Lisik, Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs and Investments MUW, as well as Marzena Kowalczyk, Deputy Director for Economic and Administrative Affairs UCC MUW, received symbolic checks for a total of PLN 38.4 million for the University Clinical Center MUW. The funds come from the REACT - EU Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment initiative in support of health system recovery and resilience.
In the ranking of Polish academic universities published on June 29, MUW took seventh place. This is a huge promotion and a historic record for our university in the ranking conducted by the Educational Foundation "Perspektywy" since 2000. And this is not the end of the good news! Seven MUW fields of study were ranked among the top three in the country. In addition, Medical University of Warsaw - for another year in a row - is the second academic university with the highest index reflecting the position of graduates on the labor market.
These are awards from students to the best academic teachers. They are awarded by the MUW Student Government for special dedication to teaching, interesting transmission of knowledge and supporting students on their academic and scientific path. On Thursday, June 29, the awards were presented to the best teachers for the 2021/2022 academic year.
The Medical Research Agency has settled a competition for head-to-head research in non-commercial clinical trials or research experiments. Funding was awarded to 11 projects. The author of one of them is Krzysztof Dudek, MD, PhD, from the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCC MUW. With the ABM funding, he will study the impact of two surgical techniques for performing a wire-wire anastomosis on the postoperative course in liver transplant patients. More than PLN 5 million is available to the researcher.
People with drug-resistant depression will benefit from state-of-the-art esketamine therapy. It will be reimbursed under a drug program that goes into effect on July 1 this year. At a seminar held at our university experts spoke about the esketamine treatment and why it can be considered a breakthrough.
