On November 8th this year, we met the winners of the "Pro Juvenes" competition organized by the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland. The first place in the "Students' health promotion initiatives" category was awarded to our students' project "Dethroning action - let's take the crown off the virus".
The MUW Medical Simulation and Innovation Centre in cooperation with the Warsaw Stock Exchange will equip hospitals across the country with 2 000 barrier tents-innovative tools to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Among the medical entities that will receive the tents are also MUW's clinical hospitals-a total of 600 pieces of this equipment will get to the hospitals.
Researchers from our University will launch a study on a new method for treatment of young patients diagnosed with Crohn's disease. The project received funding from the Medical Research Agency in the amount of 5 515 280 PLN as part of the first competition for the implementation of non-commercial clinical trials. The study will be conducted in three academic hospitals dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of children with Crohn's disease: in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw.
The ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce to Professor Marek Krawczyk - former Rector of our University from 2008 to 2016, took place on October 28 this year. The ceremony, which took place at the Rector's Office of the Świętokrzyski University, was presided over by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University - Prof. Stanisław Głuszek.
On 28 October 2020 the results of the prestigious world ranking were made available - Times Higher Education by Subject 2021. The Warsaw Medical University making its debut in "clinical and health" field, is one of the three Polish universities which were taken into account by the authors of the ranking.
On October 8th, at the Sheraton hotel the "Golden Otis 2020" Trust Awards were awarded.

Maciej Dawidowski Phd, from the Department of Drug Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of the Faculty of Pharmacy was part of the international team of scientists awarded the Erwin Schrödinger Prize. This distinction is awarded by the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres for the outstanding scientific achievements and technological innovations at the interface between various disciplines including: medicine, life sciences and engineering. The award ceremony took place on 12th October in Berlin during the annual meeting of the members of the Association.
On 5 October 2020, in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation of the MUW headed by Artur Stolarczyk, MD, PhD, at the Międzylesie Specialist Hospital in Warsaw, the first implantation of a partial, individual endoprosthesis - Episurf so-called "custom-made", prepared especially for the damaged part of the joint, was performed in Poland.
