On February 12, 2020, Prof. Krzysztof J. Filipiak signed on behalf of the Rector a letter of intent to facilitate cooperation in the field of medicine between Medical University of Warsaw and the Republic of Iraq. The ceremonial signing took place at the Iraqi Ministry of Health.
Prof. Bożena Kociszewska-Najman, Head of MUW’s Department of Neonatology and Director of the MUW’s Doctoral Study Center, is cooperating with the Government of Papua New Guinea in organizing a medical mission to the Esa'Al District islands in the Solomon Sea. MUW’s first medical mission to the Esa'Al District will take place in July 2020 at the invitation of the Government of Papua New Guinea, represented by Prime Minister Sir Davis Steven, LLB, MP, and under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Medical University of Warsaw, Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś.
February 6, 2020 in the Department of General, Endocrine and Vascular Surgery in cooperation with the IInd Department of Clinical Radiology and the IInd Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of the Medical University of Warsaw an innovative surgery was carried out, consisting in completely transcutaneous implantation of a new generation of aortic arch stentgraft.
On February 12 in the Library and Information Centre began a three-day workshop for MUW academic teachers with a teaching method called Case-Based Learning (CBL). The training is carried out by specialists in the education of the teaching staff of medical studies - Professor Sabine Gerhke-Beck and Professor Harm Peters from Charité – Berlin University of Medicine.
