The Medical Research Agency (ABM - Agencja Badań Medycznych) selected a Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) research project in a competition for research and development in non-commercial clinical trials. The research project "EMpagliflozin and daPAgliflozin in patients hospiTalized for acute decompensated Heart failure (EMPATHY trial)" initiated by MUW scientists will receive funding in the amount of 30 084 379.80PLN.
Please read the following Rector's Order no 129/2020 of the Medical University of Warsaw of June 22, 2020, amending the Order on conducting off-campus credits, exams and diploma exams using information technology ensuring control of the course of exams and their registration.
The event, organized by Nobel Media, in a partnership with AstraZeneca and in an association with Jagiellonian University, Medical University of Warsaw and Warsaw University, was the part of the Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative - a global programme designed to help Nobel Laureates to share their inspirational stories and insights. The main guest of the event - Aaron Ciechanover - presented his view on the topic titled “Are we in the midst of a knowledge crisis? The role of science in society.”
The results of the 18th edition of the "Supertalents in Medicine" competition were announced on June 17th. Among the laureates are 4 representatives of our University. The winner of the competition was Paweł Balsam, PhD hab., from the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology UCC MUW. Other MUW laureates included: Tomasz Głażewski, MD, from the Department of Diabetology and Internal Medicine UCC MUM who placed 6th; Mariusz Sikora, PhD, from the Chair and Department of Dermatology, who placed 8th and Michał Ordak, PhD, from the Department of Pharmacodynamics at MUW placed 9th.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) published their newest list of institutions of higher education. Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) placed first among Polish medical universities and ranked in the top ten of the overall rankings of Polish universities.
The implanting of a next generation cardioverter-defibrillator was performed by the I Cardiology Clinic at MUW’s Central Teaching Hospital headed by Prof. Grzegorz Opolski. The device uses Bluetooth technology to transmit data to the patient’s smartphone. There is no need for additional transmitters. The low-energy Bluetooth technology used ensures an adequate level of medical data protection and low battery consumption.

The MUW IT Center launched the first ever app for its students. mWUM is available in Polish and English and gives students quick access to current information and important links related to student life. With the new mWUM, students can manage all aspects of their studies at the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW).
Medical University of Warsaw's Rector-elect, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong announced the team of new Deputy Rectors, which he intends to appoint in September for the 2020-2024 term.
In response to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic and respiratory failure in COVID-19 patients, Łukasz Wróblewski, an anesthesiologist from the II Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the MUW UCC hospital, has developed a noninvasive ventilation helmet with the help of engineering teams from the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology, and in cooperation with the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
