The Medical University of Warsaw Electoral Board announced on April 21 that a new Rector has been elected to the 2020-2024 term. The Rector-elect is Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong.
On April 16, the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR) announced the results of the POLNOR 2019 Call. In total, 74 applications were submitted and only 38 partnership research projects were recommended for funding. Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) is a Project Promoter (leader) of the two research projects recommended for funding.
PSYCHE WUM Students Club, in collaboration with English Division Student Government and MUW University Counseling Services is launching the 'GSI (Guidance, Support, Information) program' for 1st year MUW's English Division students.
Dr. Marcin Kaczor, an anaesthesiologist and intensive care specialist, as well as, the Project Manager of the Medical Simulation Center at the Medical University of Warsaw, developed a new protective medical appliance to prevent viral aerosol shedding from patients with SARS-CoV-2 virus and other highly pathogenic human coronaviruses during common medical procedures. The tent like design creates a protection between the healthcare provider and ventilated patient with a coronavirus.
On 10 April, a telemonitoring system prototype was tested at the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy of the Medical University of Warsaw UCK, headed by Prof. Rafał Krenke. The telemonitoring system was developed by Prof. Krenke and Dr. Piotr Korczyńsk, PhD with the technical support of Engr. Krzysztof Fiedorczuk from the IT company KiD. The innovative system will allow medical staff to communicate and monitor health parameters remotely of patients with COVID-19.

On April 6, Medical University of Warsaw became an official partner of the global campaign Fight The Fakes (FTF). The campaign seeks to build a global movement of organizations and individuals who are concerned and active in combatting the production and distribution of fake medicines. MUW is the first university in Central Europe to join the Fight The Fakes campaign.
