Their fates were intertwined with the history of Warsaw and our university. Jan, the older of the brothers, was a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in Warsaw. Ignacy explored art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vilnius, and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. The exhibition prepared by the Museum of the History of Medicine MUW presents these two remarkable figures. The exhibition “Klukowski Brothers. Art and Medicine” can be viewed until January 30, 2025.

Worldwide, about 15 million newborns are born prematurely every year, in Poland - about 22,000. November 17 is their celebration - World Prematurity Day. To mark the occasion, all neonatology departments at MUW were decorated in purple, and some held unique meetings and educational workshops.

A ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace to award professor nominations. Among the academic teachers and employees of science and art who received nomination acts from the hands of President Andrzej Duda were professors from our university.

The University Clinical Center MUW won in the “Hospital Innovation - Medicine - Innovative Treatment” category in the 7th edition of the “Healthy Future - Inspirations” Competition.

The renovated Hemodynamics Laboratory at the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital UCC MUW has been opened, thus patients have gained access to state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapy for heart and peripheral vascular diseases. The unit operates within the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology with the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Venous Thromboembolism.

In October, four ceremonies were held at the Presidential Palace to award professor nominations. Among the academic teachers and employees of science and art who received nomination acts from the hands of President Andrzej Duda were professors from our university: Przemysław Dorożyński, Agnieszka Perkowska-Ptasińska, Rafał Stec, Bartosz Foroncewicz, Bartosz Kubisa, Joanna Raszeja-Wyszomirska and Katarzyna Krenke.

This year, a special award from the Rector of the MUW awarded for papers most cited in the world literature went to Dorota Skrajnowska, MA, from the Department of Toxicology and Bromatology of the Faculty of Pharmacy MUW. The researcher was recognized for her article on the role of zinc in anticancer mechanisms.

On October 27 - for the 90th time in the history of the Faculty of Medicine - a ceremony was held to award diplomas to medical graduates. Almost 600 young doctors received them. There was a lot of emotion and joy - after all, a medical degree is a big deal and a reason to be proud.

- I think this motto should guide all of us in our future professional work, setting it towards cooperation - said Dominika Domanowska, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, to her colleagues who participated in the diploma awarding ceremony yesterday. It was a unique event, as it brought together graduates from all seven fields of study of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

We already know the results of the 16th edition of the “Golden Scalpel” competition. Thisyear, the jury gave the highest marks to Poland's first program of transplantation of oneliver divided into two adult recipients. Thus, the prestigious award went to ProfessorMichał Grąta and the team of the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCCMUW. The final ten included five more projects from MUW.
