The meeting summarizing the implementation of the project “Center for Preclinical Research and Technology - CePT II”
The CePT II project was implemented from 2018 by a scientific consortium consisting of: the Medical University of Warsaw (leader), the University of Warsaw, the Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The project conducted research on the most important civilization diseases, developing, among other things, research on the use of cell therapies in restorative medicine, including the repair of the vascular epithelium, circulatory system and lung epithelium. In addition, cooperation with the country's leading scientific units and enterprises has been developed. A meeting had just been held to summarize the main objectives of CePT II and its implementation.
It's time for the internships to begin!
There has never been such an event within the walls of MUW before. Nearly 1,000 young graduates of medicine and dentistry gathered in the auditorium of the Didactic Center to take part in a ceremony to hand out referrals for postgraduate internships organized by the District Medical Chamber in Warsaw. As many as 80% of them were MUW graduates, so the ceremony was particularly important for the university and the MUW authorities could not miss it.
The winner of the Queen Silvia Nursing Award Poland received the award from the hands of the Queen of Sweden
The winner of the Polish edition of the competition, Adrian Nowakowski, together with the winners from other countries, took part in the Queen Silvia Nursing Award ceremony. The awards were presented by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. The ceremony took place at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Discussions on the development of treatment for (ultra)rare diseases and the role of patients in this process
An international conference “Unlocking hope for the ultra-rare,” organized by the Center of Excellence for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases MUW and the PACS2 Research Foundation, was held at MUW. For two days, scientists, doctors and parents as well as the families of patients discussed the importance of cooperation and involvement of all parties in the treatment process of patients suffering from rare and ultra-rare diseases.
The letter of intent to support MUW employees and medics in covering kindergarten fees
The letter was signed by our university, the Prof. Jan Nielubowicz District Medical Chamber in Warsaw, the Ronald McDonald Foundation and “Zielony Latawiec” Non-public Integration Kindergarten. The document is a declaration of cooperation involving obtaining funding by the OIL in Warsaw and MUW, and then transferring them to the recipients in the form of a surcharge on tuition fees for the kindergarten located at the Ronald McDonald House. - We want to support parents in their professional activity - stresses Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer, who signed the letter on the side of MUW – Therefore, we are taking steps to ensure that the children of MUW employees and medics can use the facility located on the Banacha Campus on favorable terms.
Prof. Robert Gałązkowski becomes Acting Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw
August 31, 2024 marked the end of the term of the Rector of MUW Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, MD, PhD. From September 1, 2024, until the election of a new rector of MUW for the 2024-2028 term, the duties of the rector will be performed by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Robert Gałązkowski, MD, PhD.
Meeting in connection with the end of the term of Rector Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong
On August 30, 2024, in connection with the end of Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong's term as Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw for the 2020-2024 term, a special meeting was held at the Professors' Club.
The second edition of the MUW Mentoring Program has been launched
The idea of the program is to support young researchers from our university in conducting scientific initiatives through mentoring and participation in workshops and training. On August 28, participants in the second edition of the program met with Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer.
First application of modern system for transcatheter closure of persistent arterial conduits in Poland
The specialists from the Department of Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics UCC MUW were the first in the country to use the new integrated systems for non-operative closure of persistent ductus arteriosus (PDA) - the Nit-Occlud PFM coil. The procedures were performed in four pediatric patients aged: 4, 5, 9 and 17 years old. All the children feel well.
Modernization of the Rectorate Building has been completed
The Rectorate Building of the Medical University of Warsaw was reopened in early August. The edifice, located at 61 Żwirki i Wigury Street, is the seat of the rector’s authorities, dean's authorities, dean's offices and administration.
