And also a great challenge and commitment. Convinced the Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Vice Dean for Curriculum and Educational Quality Prof. Aneta Nitsch-Osuch, who led the ceremony of admitting new students to the first year of medicine. Thus, the community of the Faculty of Medicine expanded by 882 people: 732 students of the medical field in Polish and 150 students who will study in English.

- Dear first-year students, you are just becoming part of this community, a community that is not afraid of challenges and that sets the directions for development - said Prof. Rafał Krenke, Rector of MUW, during the inauguration ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year. The 2024/2025 inauguration is not only the beginning of a wonderful scientific adventure for newly admitted students and doctoral students, but also the symbolic opening of another year of hard, inspiring educational, didactic and scientific work for more than 13,000 members of our academic community.

With the handing over of the insignia of the Rector's authority – the scepter, the signet ring and the neck-chain with emblem - the term of office of Rector Rafal Krenke, who was elected by a majority vote of electors on September 26, officially began.

Adaptation days are behind us, the best source of practical advice on what to know when starting studies. Advice is given by experienced senior students, dean's authorities, academic teachers, dean's office staff. But the adaptation days are not just about formal issues related to finding your way around the university, but also about getting to know each other and making the first contacts.

The students, who are just beginning their studies in the English language medical as well as medical and dental fields of study, had the opportunity to take part in an unusual ceremony - the white coat ceremony. This is a confirmation of entering the world of medicine and joining the academic community. But also much more!

After three years of intensive renovation work, the Independent Public Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital MUW has returned to its historic site on Sierakowskiego Street. Today, it offers patients completely new treatment standards and many unique procedures. The renovated facility features modern rooms and a well-equipped operating theater.

Prof. Jolanta Kunikowska, Prof. Leszek Królicki and a team from the Department of Nuclear Medicine UCC MUW took part in an innovative research project using a new diagnostic parameter - positronium lifetime - for brain tumor imaging. This was the first “positronium” imaging in the world. The project was led by the J- PET team from the Department of Experimental Particle Physics of the Jagiellonian University, led by Prof. Paweł Moskal and Prof. Ewa Stępień.

These are the most valuable awards that academic teachers can receive - because they are awarded by students. The diplomas for the didacticians at MUW were presented by Prof. Robert Gałązkowski, Acting Rector of MUW.
