Focus on MUW - 2023
Until recently, if a resident of central Poland needed treatment with a lung transplant, he had to go to Szczecin or Gdańsk or - to Zabrze. Now such patients can be treated in Warsaw. However, in order for a really strong lung transplant center to operate in Mazovia, it is necessary for this center to cooperate with existing lung disease clinics and departments in the province. It was the possibility of such cooperation that was discussed at MUW.
This time, high school students were able to hear about cutting-edge cancer treatment. Dr. Leszek Kraj from the Department of Oncology UCC MUW focused on immunotherapy. This is a new method that often gives spectacular results, but can it be called the Holy Grail in oncology? - this and many other questions were answered by our lecturer in his presentation.
The webinars are organized by the Human Milk Bank Foundation together with partners, among which is our university. The goal: to expand the knowledge of medical personnel on the principles of proper nutrition for children whose mothers experience difficulties in the perinatal period. The series starts on February 9. Participation is free of charge.
The list included 2,000 universities from more than 90 countries around the world. Out of 46 Polish universities included in the ranking, MUW ranked high - in 10th position.
We invite high schools from the Mazovian Province to participate in the "Onco-academy as a key to health" program. The project will be implemented by academic staff of the Department of Oncology Propedeutics of the Faculty of Health Sciences MUW.
Today is the National Transplantation Day, and it's a good opportunity to remind people about the ongoing "Give Life" campaign, in which experts from MUW are participating. The project is aimed at the medical community: doctors, nurses, transplant coordinators. The organizers have set the goal of increasing the number of transplants in the Mazovian Province.
Wojciech Kukwa, MD, PhD, head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology MUW, talked about what lies behind this specialty and what the work of an ENT specialist looks like. High school students from Warsaw high schools participating in the second edition of MUW's Patronage Program listened and asked questions.
This is the first such intensive course in Poland dedicated to emergencies in neonatology. It was created in cooperation between the Medical Simulation Center and Innovation MUW and the Neonatology and Intensive Care Department MUW. And it immediately gathered a full set of participants.
On January 12, Prof. Pawel Łaguna, Dr. Mariola Pietrzak and Dr. Grażyna Bączek received acts of appointment as medical consultants for the Mazovian province. They were presented by Mazovia Province Governor Konstanty Radziwiłł.
The whole of Poland has already heard about the team of our scientists. The test they have developed is non-invasive, and we get the result after a few days. This is crucial, because in endometriosis the road to diagnosis usually takes several years.
