Focus on MUW - 2023
Sultana Laila Hossain was hosted at MUW by Rector Professor Zbigniew Gaciong and Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion Professor Paweł Włodarski. The meeting, which took place on April 27, concerned the development of cooperation when it comes to educating Bangladeshi students at our university.
The laureate is a clinical scientist in the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology UCC MUW. She received the Golden OTISA statuette in the "Scientific Debuts" category. The Committee's Scholarship Panel also awarded her the Second Trust Award Scholarship. This award is given for an original, defined scientific achievement or a novel implementation solution in the field of medicine, documented by publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
This time the speakers were two female medical students from our university. They told high school students about exchanges and trips abroad. They shared their own experiences from internships they had in Asia and Africa.
A letter of intent has just been signed in this regard. As part of the cooperation, a competition for students will be organized.
The winners were announced yesterday at the gala of the 4th "Health of Poles" 2023 Congress. In the category "Modern medical education", the statuette was won by the SGH-WUM Executive MBA in health care. Also among the winners were Prof. Grzegorz Opolski and Prof. Marcin Grabowski from the First Chair and Department of Cardiology UCC MUW, and Prof. Renata Górska from the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine MUW.
Children's Clinical Hospital UCC MUW is one of the few centers in Poland where women give birth to children with severe defects, and where young patients can be operated on right away. The symposium "Rare diseases and congenital defects of newborns requiring urgent intervention after birth. Current diagnostic and therapeutic options" took place at the Children's Clinical Hospital.
Dr. Adrian Wong is a consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care at King's College Hospital in London. At MUW, he gave a lecture on human factors in medicine.
How to teach theoretical subjects to future doctors in a modern and interesting way? Knowledge and experience in this area were shared by our teachers during a training course organized for academic teachers from Ukraine. The course was held on March 27-29, 2023, and brought together a total of nearly 400 people from a dozen Ukrainian universities.

Among the winners of the "Health Visionaries" plebiscite are Mariusz Wyleżoł, MD, PhD, from the Second Department of General, Vascular and Oncological Surgery MUW, head of the Warsaw Center for Comprehensive Obesity Treatment and Bariatric Surgery at Czerniakowski Hospital in Warsaw and Marek Karwacki, MD, PhD, from the the Chair and Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Transplantology UCC MUW, Coordinator of the Centre for Coordinated Medical Care of Patients with Neurofibromatosis and Related RASopathies at the MUW.
The pandemic has caused delays in diagnosis and deterioration in the effectiveness of treatments for many diseases. A debt has been incurred, which we will be paying back for several or even a dozen years. How to do it - experts pondered during the VIII Warsaw Health Promotion Days held under the slogan "In post-pandemic reality."
