Focus on MUW - 2023
The Embassy of Japan has donated eight PARO seals - robots used, among other things, to treat post-traumatic stress disorder - to the Warsaw Family Assistance Center. Now they will be used in the centers for refugees from Ukraine run by the Warsaw Family Assistance Center. As a scientific partner of the initiative, our university will support the center's staff with knowledge and experience that will allow them to take full advantage of the devices' therapeutic capabilities. This is because MUW - as one of the first centers in Poland - has already been providing psychological assistance to Ukrainian refugees using PARO robots since 2022.
The O. O. Bogomolets National Medical University has received efficient backup power supplies. They will enable health care units affiliated with the Kiev university to operate regardless of power outages. This is another step in MUW activities in support of Ukraine.
Heavily calcified atherosclerotic plaques in patients with chronic or acute coronary syndromes pose a challenge to modern interventional cardiology. The Hemodynamics Laboratory of the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology UCC MUW has joined the ranks of the few centers in Poland performing complex coronary artery procedures using orbital atherectomy.
